DETROIT FREEPRESS MARATHON 2006

This Sunday will be the Detroit Free Press Marathon, which I believe (I might be wrong here...) is the only marathon to cross an International border (US-CDN). Runners will run on the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit to Windsor (awesome!!!) and continued their way on our nice Riverfront and finally make their way back to the US using the tunnel... this is definitely a marathon that I want to run in the future!! =)

For this year, I will be volunteering at the water station on the Canadian side. I'm excited to see the elite runners and give some encouragements back to the runners. For me, this is a way to give some payback for the awesome volunteers that cheered me in Toronto. My newfie is volunteering with me, even though we have to be there at 6:45 on a Sunday morning... thank god for the clock going back an hour on Sunday!

Previously, I mentionned having signed up for some spinning classes.... oh well, I just learned that spinning is not my cup of tea, I'm a runner and do not enjoy all that much sweating on a bike in a small room with 10 other people... I paid 75$ for these classes so I will attend them.... anyway can't wait to go on my run this afternoon!!

Have a good week-end fellow runners! =)

hey Sonia! thanks for the good luck wishes! I'll be sure to look for you on the Canadian side of the race. i'll probably be wearing my hot pink leopard print running skirt (and either a black longsleeve or white shortsleeve), so if you see me, give me a yell!

:) Cool! You're a water-station girl!

The Niagara Marathon crosses the Canada-US border as well --- actually it starts on the US side and ends up over here. Rumour has it that one's a great race too.

Oooh cool that sounds like fun! And thanks for reminding me about the clocks... yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssss!!

I've never tried a spinning class. There is a reason for that. I am not THAT into masochism ;)

Gotta love the volunteers! The races wouldn't work without folks like you. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one out there who feels like they're uncertain what to do now that the training and race are over. Perhaps we should coin a new term...from now on, I'm suffering from Post-Race Letdown Syndrome (PRLS). Think it'll catch on?
Good to meet you!

Have fun volunteering! I hear it's a moving experience--even if it's just handing out water!

Have fun with the spinning classes.
