UNDERWEAR POST

I don't usually talk about my underwear in public but it was soo ANNOYING on my run tonight! I usually wear some fancy dri-fit Nike panties but I didn't want to waste them on a 3 miler (yes I wash once a week!). Well, I did not change it and ended up wearing this stupid "loose" underwear. That underwear will slowly makes it way down to your knees making you feel very uncomfortable... It will also make you look stupid as you try to bring it back up in the middle of the street. Yeah, lesson learned... It did become a little less bothersome when the rain started and it was all wet... not the best just a little better. Anyway, enough about panties... I ran 5 miles on Tuesday and 3 miles tonight. No idea of the time as I still have no watch.

There has been a lot of heated discussion on RM.com about the use of ipods in races. I have always raced with my ipod and never saw a problem with it. I keep the level low and enjoy both the crowd (or lack thereof) and music. I had never realised before some races are banning the use of ipods (you can get disqualified). I never thought about the fact that I was not following the rules but now that it has been brought to my attention, I do not want to live in sin ;-) But I have never raced without an ipod and its almost like a security blanket at this point. I usually don't run without it. Anyway, just wanted some opinions from my fellow bloggers about the use of ipods in races that banned them.

Thanks and happy running everyone! =)

Dude -- I've NEVER had a problem with my panties falling down during a run :P The worst was when the lace started chafing though....

RE Ipods in Races: It's my personal believe that if someone is going to be an asshat WITH an mp3 player, they're going to be just as much of an asshat without. I don't really get the drama over it -- run in a straight line, keep the volume low enough to hear ambulances, and don't run into the dude in front of you.
*shrug* but that's just me.... and I get BORED after 45 minutes out on the road!

I personally don't care as long as you don't run into me :P

Is the elastic shot in those panties? Either that or you're losing weight chica!

I have never had a problem with runners and ipods, but I know a lot of people that do. Unfortunately not all runners are as smart as you and insist on cranking it up and running into everyone.

I was on the Columbus Marathon website this week in preparation for the race and was shocked to see they banned all mp3 players. I think soon, every marathon will. I dunno, I think it's a little drastic.

I’ll leave the underwear issue alone, that’s the first time I’ve ever heard about it. I encourage my team to run any race without music. I even sometimes issue a challenge where they must get the names of two other runners while they running. We should all bring the big boom boxes of the eighties.

I'll refrain on commenting on underwear. Most mens shorts have them built in and thank god for that. :)

On Ipods, I don't race with them but many people do. Why don't you try bringing one to your next race and try running the first bit without it. Enjoy the sound of the feet on pavement and of the (if there are any) spectators. Or even monitor your breathing and those of people around you. And if after halfway through youfeel you need, it maybe you can put one ear bud on....

One moreweek until your race!

Ken: you would have been proud of me today, the French's guy name was Mark ;-)

Kenny: I just read Bex's blog about the panties, what a coincidence!

Marcy: unfortunately not losing weight here lol I'm at my heighest weight at the moment.... need to do something about this and thrown the panties away....

Laurel: I think just like you, listening to an ipod does not mean you have to be rude on the course.... I'll bring it along and see how the crown support is there. I'm sure I'll need Madonne to push me after 10 miles!!

Thanks for all the comments everyone =)
