TRAINING WITH A STUPID FOOT ~ WEEK 3~

Training is going well but I've been asked if my foot hurts... no it does not hurt BUT it doesn't feel quite right... sigh... is that a BIG problem?? It is really tight and it goes up my calf too, so I am stretching a lot and massaging too...

Otherwise it's been a great week. Nutrition is back to a normal level and I lost a couple of pounds this week.

Here's last week in Review
Monday: 40 mins run with my Dad

Tuesday: Bike speed session . Same as last week but a lot easier so I am ready to ramp-up the 'speed intervals this week.

10 mins warm-up
10 mins speed session (30 sec hard/30 sec easy)
10 mins cool down

Wednesday: We got hit with 30 cm/12 inches of snow. My parents left for a trip so I was in charge of all the shoveling by myself.... 2h30 of shoveling later I was too exhausted to run!

Thursday: 2h of shoveling, 25 mins run on the treadmill and I wanted to die the whole time (shoes were great though!). Finished it off with a long strenght training... I was sore from shoveling so this wasn't my smartest idea LOL

Friday: 1h shoveling (and totally done!)

Saturday: Long ride on the trainer; riding easy for 55 mins then 15-30 sec pick up climbing out
of the saddle (hard!)

Today: 'Long' run well if you can call 3 miles like that which was totally AWESOME!

Most of the streets where plowed and I wanted to test how fast I could go, still comfortably hard.

Mile 1: 11:27 min/mile
Mile 2: 11:34 min/mile
Mile 3: 11:26 min/mile

I am so very happy with this run. =) I was afraid I didn't have it in me cause I am running with my Dad often and the pace is really slow (for me, not for him). I want to run 12 min/mile at ATB so better get started. I did a 20 mins cool down on the trainer when I came back home. I'm really liking the indoor trainer.

Have a good week everyone!

Sounds great to me, homefry. Take it slow and easy. And keep stretching, massaging, and icing afterwards.

2:30 in shoveling?! Forget that. I'm going to have to get you a snow blower :P

Too bad you don't have chinooks to melt the snow and dry it all up! What an active week you had! I'm sure even though your body hurts at times, you feel wonderful mentally! Good job!

I think it's so cool that you and your dad run together! Great run and great week. yes, not wearing enough clothes did make me pick it up at the end .. I kept thinking "the faster I run, the sooner I get my car and the sooner I put the heater on!"

UGH.... I hate shoveling the snow. Good thing my hubby is ALWAYS willing to do it. Let's hope he isn't out of town next time it snows.

that's a lot of crosstraining (shoveling!) Keep up with the icing, massaging, taking it easy, etc. Good luck!

Ah yes, Chinooks! You definitely need to move out west to take advantage of mother nature's snow blower!

What is this shoveling thing you speak of? Go and steal a snow blower, it's worth the crime!

Oh man, that is a lot of shoveling! Great job fitting in the other workouts as well.

Fingers are crossed that your foot is okay!

In reply to your comment on my blog.....

It means "Run Far" in Chinese. My younger sister spent about four months in China about 7 years ago and when she got back she had one done on her foot and I loved it. So I decided after I ran my second marathon, that I would get one too. I wanted something about running and that is what we came up with. I don't really like the way it looks. I love the meaning and all, but it is kind of big and not so pretty. My sisters is so dainty and pretty and thin. Mine turned out so the opposite. But there isn't much I can do about it now.

Good job all around. Shoveling snow is hard work. Had to do it yesterday myself but I made sure it was after the long run. Tough to get the energy up to run after shoveling for 2+ hours. Good luck with the foot. Hope it heals!

Thanks everybody, it's been a great busy week! The shoveling definitely add to upper body strenght training LOL

Janice: thanks for telling me about the tattoo, I am really thriving to get mine done now! IT will have the design of the first marathon I finished with 26.2 close to it.

All that shoveling is considered a workout, for sure. You are going to be totally buff!

Look at you, you're running again! I'm so happy for you!
